April 18 is National Transgender HIV Testing Day, a day to understand that access to HIV testing, prevention, treatment, and affirming care still matters. While trans people continue to be pushed out of public health conversations, the need for clear information, visible resources, and supportive care has not gone away. 🩺 🫂

Routine HIV testing matters for everyone, and it is especially important that trans communities have access to care that is informed, respectful, and affirming.If you are looking for HIV testing resources, TransSOCIAL can help connect you to support and referrals. Did you know 2026 marks TransSOCIAL’s tenth year? Our official anniversary is around the corner in October! 🏳️‍⚧️ What began as a way for trans people to find community and share resources grew into our name change program, referrals and resource navigation, TransConnect, cultural sensitivity trainings, and ongoing support for trans people across Florida and beyond 🌈🫂

Read through the slides to learn more! For the past ten years, TransSOCIAL has fought tirelessly to help trans people access essential resources and life-changing services. Today is March 31, Trans Day of Visibility! 🏳️‍⚧️✨ TDOV was started as a day to celebrate and center trans lives and contributions. It was also created to make space for trans people to be recognized beyond narratives of violence and loss.

Though TDOV is about visibility, it’s not that simple. This is a time to celebrate trans accomplishments and victories, while also acknowledging the discrimination and barriers many still face. It’s urgent to keep this in mind when so many trans people are being discussed politically while still being denied safety in everyday life 🩵🩷🤍

The holidays are around the corner, and TransSOCIA

The holidays are around the corner, and TransSOCIAL will be taking some much-needed time to recharge so we can continue showing up strong for our community in the new year! ⛄️🎁

Our office will be closed from December 15th to January 4th and will reopen on January 5th. ❄️

If you’re currently receiving case management services (like name change assistance), a team member will still be checking email for any urgent needs. New service requests will be answered when we return.

If you’re in need of services or resources, make sure to reach out before offices close! Wishing everyone a safe, restful, and affirming holiday season 💙🏳️‍⚧️

At TransSOCIAL, we provide essential services that many trans folk rely on: legal name change assistance, healthcare navigation, identity document updates, resource access, and other community programs. These services are life-saving for the Trans community here in Florida. And much of our work is powered by individual donations! We don’t have large funding behind us, so it’s community, allies, and people like you who make these programs possible. Every contribution helps keep these resources available and helps us respond when someone reaches out for support. 💗💙🤍

For Transgender Awareness Week, we’re highlighting the stories behind the work we do every day. 🏳️‍⚧️✨ Co-founder and executive director, Morgan Mayfaire, sat down to share TransSOCIAL’s beginnings and how the mission is rooted in lived experience. As he put it:

“I always see myself in the people who come to us. And I think about how different my life could’ve been if something like this existed.”

TransSOCIAL was created as a direct response to systems that were never built with trans people in mind. 🫂🏳️‍⚧️🤝 We provide support with name changes, ID updates, system navigation, and connecting community members to affirming resources, so the next trans person doesn’t have to face these obstacles alone! 🌈🗣💕

In Florida, the trans community is dealing with restricted access to healthcare, unstable housing, limited job opportunities, and fewer truly safe spaces. This is a result of state laws and ongoing stigma. Therefore this month isn’t just about being aware, it’s about taking real steps to support the people around us! That means sharing accurate information, pushing back on harmful narratives, and supporting local trans-led work that directly helps people in the community 🫂🌈🤝

Trans Awareness Month and Trans Awareness Week (Nov 13-19) lead into Trans Day of Remembrance (Nov 20), when we honor those lost to anti-trans violence and reflect upon what still needs to change. 🕯️💕
